Attention S.S. Isopod Crew,

I should not have to remind everyone of the risks associated with playing pranks on a submarine. Even if performed in the spirit of fun and merriment, they can and do have unforeseen consequences especially when they don’t go according to plan.

For example, whomever let the rabid albatross-weasel hybrids out of their cages, while initially amusing to watch, poses a serious safety hazard to the crew and therefore was not an acceptable prank. Additionally, filling the mess hall with sea water, while quite an impressive feat of engineering to reroute the ship’s plumbing and bypass the ship’s water lock safety sensors, accidentally causing the ship’s sewage systems to backup, was also not an acceptable prank for obvious reasons.  However, whomever wrapped up the ship robots in cellophane and suspended them from the moon pool ceiling, I would like to applaud a April Fools’ well executed. That was safe and amusing to all and therefore an acceptable prank.

That being said, I understand the psychologically therapeutic and beneficial effects the occasional fun joke or prank can have on the morale of the crew. I would just like to remind everyone to use good judgment in their jokes of choice upon this merry day.

Sincerely,

Captain Tortuga
